Charmaine, as a ghost-writing coach, works with authors to create a content strategy i.e. a chapterwise concept for the book and then generate the content for each chapter of the book, based on the same. The chapter strategy functions as a roadmap/blueprint so that the book stays on course both from a subject matter and time perspective. She also works with the author to guide them through the publishing process and assist with the marketing of the book. There are many types of publishing and multiple formats, depending on the subject matter and the context of the work. Hence, she creates a body of work – it may start as a book but can be adapted into anything from an interactive website, film, app, social media, merchandise, e-learning modules, and so on.
She also educates and coaches the author to help them understand the pros and cons of both publishing from a trade perspective, academic perspective and a custom publishing/ self publishing perspective.
For marketing, she works with the author to create a strategic sales and marketing plan for the book, including a strategic price point, the different networks through which the book can be marketed and if required, can also help them execute a digital media campaign to get the word out there, across say a blog, electronic direct marketing, social media etc.
Charmaine's Story
Charmaine Mirza has a passion for travel that was born when her parents carted her off to see elephants in Periyar National Park at the age of one. She has never looked back and has traveled across the subcontinent (by road) and the world. She considers travel to be one of the greatest investments she has made in her life and her work.
She currently works as an independent consultant on a variety of projects. She has helped her small but interesting portfolio of clients with business development, outreach and communications strategies, and created digital and print content and communications on an ongoing basis. These may be both for in-house and client facing media, with the goal of differentiating them from their competitive set.
Charmaine’s portfolio of clients is far-flung in verticals ranging from tourism, to sustainable agricultural products, to business networking and social media. From one time jobs such as website content to ongoing communications platforms, she works remotely from a variety of locations and is flexible to adapt the format of the project based on the client’s requirements.
Beyond communications, Charmaine also lends her support in areas such as marketing and strategy, product research and development, internal and external training including presentations, seminars and training manuals, public relations and events, and translations (via the services of a network of professional native speaking translators in languages such as German, Russian, Portuguese, Arabic, Mandarin, Spanish, French and many more).
